Well it's been 2 weeks since my last post, sorry for the lack of wednesday workdesk stuff, I have been doing odd bits but only really half heartedly, and with no inclination to update to the world hahaha how EMO is that lol

I am still in pain with my back, and after having had cancer in the past my surgeon felt I really should have a bone scan. That in itself was traumatic as my veins are so poor, it took them 8 attempts on 2 different days to get a needle into me so the radioactive dye could be injected. In the end they called an anaesthetist to do it, and it still took him 2 attempts. The scan itself was quick and easy, but the wait for results has been very stressful. Today is a good day, my nurse called and the scan shows no cancer, just inflammation due to damage to the lower back which is more than likely pressing on the sciatic nerve....So now I have to manage the pain and wait it out.

Seriously relieved is an understatement.

So onto pretty stuff, let's see, I can't even remember what i have made lately. I got together with some friends and we hired a room in a community centre for the day, most of us made bags. This is mine, I have sent it off to my sister who lives in Australia, I am spectacularly bad at remembering birthdays, so this is a non-specific occasion gift lol

Next I agreed to take part in a tag swap organised by my lovely friend Kirsty It was an ages from discussing what had to go on them..to actually making them, and I totally forgot what was needed lol I didn't do too bad though, i only missed off the inspirational quote hahaha I made 5, all the same, sent 4 and now await 4 from other people to arrive in the post.

My coffee table finally arrived, so my magazine page bowl now has a home and is filled with mini books.

I went to a local art exhibition of work by Mackenzie Thorpe, he is one of my all time faves. It was lovely to meet him and chat. I don't look too happy, but i was really, just my back was so sore.

next I went to a quilting workshop, being taught by reknowned quilting artist Jennie Rayment. I have met her before but this was the first workshop I had done. She is a fab teacher and very funy, the day was very fast paced but we all got loads done. i was very pleased with what i achieved on the day, even though I was in pain and strapped up like a mummy to keep my back from falling apart lol After I had slept for a couple of days I finished off the panel, and now it is ready to be made into a cushion.

This is how far I got on the day of the workshop...

and this is a couple of days later, after I had rolled back and hand stitched all the twiddly bits. Photos are both taken in exactly the same position so you can see how each square changes.

I really want to make 2 coloured ones now for my new sofas.

Next a couple of birthday cards, the first for my niece...

this next one is for my friend Jean, she likes all things goth and it was her birthday on Saturday just gone. We all went to Whitby for the day as it was Goth weekend over there. The card is all hand drawn.

Finally this is me all dressed up for Goth day.

Lastly at our monthly art group we decorated some mini canvasses, but I don't know what I have done with the photos, will find them for next time. Oh and I don't have photo of my desk, because I can't actually see it lol it is totally piled up with stuff. My previously mentioned friend Kirsty has a new cd which she is promoting on tv on Saturday, and she asked me to make a sample card for her to take with her, so I did that yesterday and left my craft room in a shambolic state...bad back etc can't tidy up etc ....lol

Hope you are all well.

Another week, another wednesday, can't believe I have remembered to do this 3 weeks running...won't last lol Well not much has been happening, my back is still giving me problems and now I have to go for a bone scan next weds. So I have been mostly confined to barracks, you would think that would be great given the mountain of stuff I have to play with here but it aches to sit for long, so i haven't really done much of anything.

In an attempt to get some fresh air and a bit of a walk I went out looking for a red lampshade, and found a giant rabbit instead. I am convinced he had vodka in his drink, he was anjoying himself waaay too much.

Didn't find a red lampshade but did get red cushions, not quite the same i know, and hardly a substitute, but they look good on the new sofas.

So here is my desk this week, nothing crafty on there. I have beeen sorting out an old filing cabinet, which the rag n bone man took this morning, and I found some fabric/leather samles inside it, they are in bags on the desk waiting to be sorted. There were also lots of other bits and bobs from my interior design days, such as full dulux colour swatches. let's see what else...a pile of gift bags and cards from my birthday back in Feb. I want to make a mini book with them all..but that is project number 55487367893

Oh and the file folder at the front is full of Romanian which i am attempting to learn.

So onto craft stuffs, as I have been bored and too achey to do much I have been ...when I could get comfy, with a half dozen cushions packed in behind me...sat ripping up National Geographics, gotta love that mgazine. Ripping, folding and coiing in fact.

4cm diameter

27cm

and approx 44cm , I was aiming for 50 but i got really bored. Anyway as you can see, Its a huge spiral, shaped into a bowl. In this pic its upside down with a coat of PVA glue on it. I think i put 3 coats on both sides. It is not a new idea by any stretch of the imagination, in fact I have seen bowls like this for sale in the gift shop of the Natural History museum. But they cost monies, and i wanted a cheap bowl...

It will eventually live on top of my new coffee table, if it ever turns up, and will be filled with mini books.

Hope you all had a great Easter.x
