How do you mentally or emotionally prepare? Do you need time alone to do this? Do you even feel the need to prepare or do you just wing it? Are you, as the scouts would say… prepared for anything?

Page 21. Mountain.
I coloured the page, back and front with letraset aqua markers, this is how it looked to start...
and after they were blended with a damp brush.
I printed out this image of a beautiful mountain, I decided I didn't want it on white card stock, so I printed it again on Safmat.
I stamped tiny leaves around the edge of the front, and stuck the safmat image on top.

My title is 'Dreams stay with you, like a lover's voice across a mountainside...stay alive.' These are lyrics from a Big Country song.
On the back, I again stamped the tiny leaves but also added some trees across the page.
Added the final part of the title.
and my journalling.
I realize much of what I put on my backgrounds gets covered up, you might ask why bother putting it there at all..why the effort.Well not everything is meant to be seen all the time, having those elements is part of the process, it is how the page evolves....much like life.
that they are no longer seen is not the point, the fact that they are still there and that they have contributed.. is what matters.

A while ago at our art group, we started making money boxes/piggy banks..We started with this sizzix die cut.you need 2 pieces cut from chipboard.
The two pieces fold up and the tabs tuck in to make a box.
I decided it was just too square and needed to have bits added...specifically a teapot spout and handle. I cut 2 handles and 2 spouts from chipboard.
Then I wrapped the in lots of layers of tissue paper and white glue...papier mache style. this filled in the gaps and rounded the edges. I then covered the in paper that matched the box, added paints and inks to distress and grubby them up.
The bottom of the box has lace around it., and the feet are wooden cotton reels covered in paper and ink.
I took the original zippered rose off the top and added paper flowers with a brad.
The front still looked a little plain so I added these images and text.
Voila! all done...no money in there as yet.

Then decorate however you wish, not forgetting to cut a slot in the top for your money. This is how far I got on the day, but wasn't happy with it.So it sat on my desk at home for a while until I got around to altering it...

Then I had the fun of glueing them to the box, if I had thought about this process at the very start I could have wired them through the box..but as it was the box was already glued shut at this point...So I just glued them to the outside and held the in place....so far they have stayed on.

Finally caught up on these, in time for the new on Monday lol
this is page 20. Endeavour.
first I coloured the back and front with pink and blue neocolours,and swiped ink around the edges.
I rolled some white acrylic over the background and then stamped some waves and bubbles using various shades of blue,turq and white ink.
Next I added some more bubbles which were then embossed, I added UTEE to the edges and scattered in some blue and turq beads.
I printed out my title, mounted it on black and white harlequin digi paper and stuck it down.
Now the explanation bit....The word Endeavour always brings to mind the beloved Morse from the TV show, also the Cpt.Cook ship Endeavour. I live very close to the birthplace of Cpt.Cook
so it is only fitting that I include some reference to him.

Page 19.. Describe in five words...
I began by adding torn scrapbook paper to the background and blending in the pieces with neocolours and white acrylic. I added ink to the edges and stamped 1-5 in blue stazon.
On the back I used acrylic paints, neocolours and more stamping.
I then printed the word FIVE in different languages onto Letraset Safmat, stuck these little labels onto the pages and added my descriptive words over the top. I printed them out and coloured them with Inktense pencils and Graphitints and outlined them with a white gelly pen.
I also stamped a large number 5, which was traumatic in itself... i spent forever searching for a foam set of alphabet stamps, thinking there would be numbers with them. Searching was proving futile and involved stamping of feet and growlage.... I emptied a whole cupboard and eventually found them...there were no numbers in the set...so I had to make one from funky foam and cardboard, in the process of cutting it out i managed to cut it in half...was too busy tweeting at the same time.
Anyway...
On the back is more number stamping and my journalling...about why there is no journalling.

More catching up...
Week 18. Indulge.
I coloured the background using Inktense pencils. Rubbing them lightly with a damp baby wipe to blend.
I then added some bits of tissue paper with tiny shoes on it. Because the tissue paper is white it disappears into the background ,leaving just the coloured shoes on show.
Next I added a shoe from an old shoe calendar.
I blended neocolours around he shoes and the page edges, and rolled some white acrylic over the page.
Added the title.
and added my journalling to the back.

Playing catch up here...
Page 17. Purpose.
I totally forgot to take photos of how I did this page. I started by colouring the background with thin layers of acrylic paint, both back and front. I used blue,pink,white and green, layering the over and over.
I then added the images. These images were chosen as I often feel I have no purpose, that i am wandering, flitting fro one thing to another..like a butterfly...
The butterfly does not stay in one place too long, they go from flower to flower, seemingly without purpose..but of course that is the secret to their purpose all along.
On the front I then added 'Polyfilla' around the edges and when it was dry I painted over it and added gold wax..
On the back I hand wrote my journalling in black and then again in white, and added the gold rub around the edges.

Firstly thankyou for all your good wishes, I am feeling much better. I am very tired though, but trying to get back on top of things.... so many projects to catch up on. I will post all 3 of my catch up pages this week. One is done and 2 are half done.xxx
