Postcard Challenge 2012

Week 13. Turkey.

How have you done this week? I am looking forward to seeing what you have come up with for this week's prompt.

After reading up a little on Turkey I found that the Trojan wars were fought there. So I collaged some images of an old map, some soldiers and the Trojan horse.

I then discovered that when Julius Caesar was at war with the city of Zela ( now known as Zile in Turkey) he is reported to have said..

Veni.Vidi,Vici...I came, I saw, I conquered.

So this is my card, using that phrase, along with the Turkish flag....however I changed it up just a little hahaha

Here is the card on the page...I will attach it with clear photo corners.

and here is the back of my card...how will Charlie find the combination number?

circle journal

It's that time again, this month I was making a page for Lea, she loves pink, flowers and embellishments...so it just had to be fluffy flamingos.

I started by cutting a heart from book pages, this was cut in half and backed onto card. I drew the flamingos onto the book print.

I then coloured them in using prisma pencils, with shimmerz paint on the background.

I added texture paste and paint to the backs.

Then I added some fluff to the flamingos with marabu feathers in pale pink, dark pink and white..

Next I worked on the page, painting, spraying, stencilling, adding polyfilla thru stencils and more painting, plus some bejewelling...

doodling and bejewelling..

I printed out a flamingo poem and cut it into strips before sticking them onto the page..

Finally i embossed the edges of the flamingo heart and stuck it into the book using tabs at the sides..

Voila! all finished...

when the book closes the heart meets...

Postcard Challenge 2012

week 12 Israel.

wow this week was hard huh?

I finally settled on a camel for my page..

For my card I looked to see what other animals were found in Israel. I discovered that in May 2008 the Hoopoe bird was chosen as the national bird. This choice was made to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the country, and was as a result of a survey of 155,000 citizens.

On the back of my card,we see Ren is still missing and charlie is following leads to find him..Is the whole organisation in peril, who is the mole selling names of agents, will Charlie find Ren in time?

Postcard Challenge 2012

here we are week 10..how did you all get on this week? I am guessing last week was a bit tough, we had less cards linked up last week than any other. I am hoping Canada inspired you all a bit more.

I admit, I was really stuck, even though there are any things to choose from about Canada, I just couldn't settle on anything. Then I found the art of Jon Todd, and I loved it. See his images ON GOOGLE IMAGES

So I kind of recreated one of his images, not easy to do small scale. I think his must look really good full size.
Here is my card..

I used acrylics, neos, scrapping paper and rub ons.

For the page I cut out a large maple leaf and painted it red, adding the names of Canadian territories and the capitals in white. I stuck that down and framed it with small punched out maple leaves.

here is the card on the page..

and finally the back of the card... Ren is still missing, so this week sees another card from Charlie...

Circle Journal

A few weeks ago the lovely CLARE asked me to do a page in her journal. I didn't have time to work on it straight away, but last week I finally got started.

When I met Clare, she gave me some old paper that had building plans on it, so I started with that, by adding it to the journal pages.

I then added some ink and paint thru some sequin waste.

next I added a narrow page/flap in the middle, and drew a face on the left side.. and some hearts along the top.

I continued the hearts across the top of the other page, and added more to the face.

I then added some little flowers, and finished her wings..

On the back of the flap I added some doodling..

Next I added some ribbons to the edge of the flap and some text .

and finally some more text on the back of the flap and on the second page.

I really enjoyed working in this journal, thankyou Clare for asking me.

Postcard Challenge 2012

Week 9 Switzerland..

Wow I almost didn't get this done had a busy week and a lot of backache, not helped at all by the Zumba class I did on Tuesday and the Rammstein gig I went to on Wednesday (see previous post for photos and videos)

Thursday was my day left to make the card, only my son decided to come home so I had tidying and sorting to do...all the best laid plans huh?...

I finally got it done, and while I knew exactly what I wanted to do, it ended up being a bit rushed, so not my favourite card so far at all.

When I was a kid, about 10- 11 yrs old, I went to stay with family friends each summer. In their house they had a collection of books that I fell in love with.

The Chalet School Books, by Eleanor Brent Dyer.

I never owned any, but read the ones they had there. A few years ago I decided to start collecting the books, and boy are they hard to find. There are around 60...I have about 14.

The Chalet School books were first based in Austria, then due to the war, the school moved to Guernsey and then to England After the war the school was relocated to Switzerland, and around half the books are based there.

So this is my card.. I sketched out the front of one of the books coloured it first with promarkers, added a little gesso then went over it with prisma pencils.

I collaged my page with red and white, to represent the flag. Easy peasy, just torn bits of patterned paper.

Then attached my card using clear plastic photo corners.

Back of the card..

PLEASE, consider turning off your comment security/word verification, it would make it so much easier for people to get around all the blogs much quicker.

Rammstein

Last night I went to see Rammstein...OMG...bloody amazing.

I was stood just as the side of the stage, on the right, so had a pretty good view. I took 315 photos lol but those pesky boys moved around so much, there were a lot of blurry ones. After deleting LOTS I still have 167 and 5 videos.

See the foam canon in the last photo, that came right over me, I was covered in foam...so was my camera, I had to clean it up quick with my tshirt..Excellent band, not just music, but a whole 'show'. Well worth the money.
