POSTCARD CHALLENGE

Week 21 - England..

ahh so nice to come home..

BUT, so much to choose from. I ended up doing a collage of drawings and ephemera, from around the country.

This is my page. In the background the flag of St. George, a castle, some old stamps, an advert for the National Gallery, a label from some Newcastle brown Ale, an iconic red telephone box and good old Shakespeare.

My card is from up here in the north of the country...

It stands upon a hill .

It is a steel sculpture of an angel, 20 metres (66ft) tall, with wings measuring 54 metres(177ft) across. The wings do not stand straight out, but are angled 3.5 degrees forward. This was done to create 'a sense of embrace'

Totally not finished, I spent way too much time this evening watching Bee Gees videos on Youtube which then led onto other disco related tracks hahaha

and yeah I was chair dancing...

I will add to this post if it gets finished..

I hate her nose, it fought me all the way, so i gave up on it hahaha

actually the only thing I like about her is the hair.

Today's face was made into a greetings card..

As it is being given away on a card , and I liked it a lot..I decided to draw it again in my book..Didnt turn out quite as nice as the first one, but then I don't think anything ever does..

wk 20 West Africa.

With so many countries in W.Africa there was a lot to choose from, but my deciding factor was that I had postage stamps from Togo and Benin..so I looked at those two.

I quickly decided on what I wanted to do, but could not find an image to draw, and as I ran out of time I decided to cheat...and just print my card this week.

I just love those fetish dolls. I found out about the origins of voodoo while researching...

This is a fascinating article about the real origins of voodoo.

Life Book

I thought I would show another of the Life Book pieces that I have made. I am way behind, and only have 7 completed and 2 half done out of the 20 so far..

This is my piece from week 4.

First I collaged music paper and scrapbook paper onto my page..

Then I did a gel transfer of my own face..

next i went over the main features with a pen..

added some hair and a body..

gave myself a dress, and painted the face..

added more to the hair..

and finally added a crown..

the last part of the exercise was to fill the background with text, you cant see it well in the photo..

I was out all day, and then this evening working on a LifeBook page, so no dedicated face today, but i didn't want to miss a day, so I put  a little face onto the page I was doing..

This is a card I made for a friend recently. She mentioned she liked frogs...

So first I found a reference photo of a tree frog and sketched him out..

Then I coloured him using Letraset Promarkers..

I then used a fine black pen to outline the whole thing and tangle inside the shapes. once the patterning was done I cut him out and mounted him onto some Basic Grey patterned paper.
