Have you ever needed a really quick last minute gift? Here's how you can give something really pretty that is quick and simple to make.
First you will need the following.
Plain candles in a size of your choice.
You will also need some white tissue paper, stamps of your choice and metallic markers
Scribble the pen over your stamp, don't worry these pens are water based so they will just wash off your stamp.
Lay your tissue paper over the stamp and pat down gently till you see that the image has been transferred, peel off the paper very carefully, it is quite fragile.
When you have your images all stamped, cut your tissue paper to size, it needs to wrap totally around the candle. Lay it over your candle and adjust the position until you are happy.
Now take a piece of waxed paper that is longer and wider than the candle. if you do not have ready waxed paper you can easily make some. Take a piece of tracing paper or parchment paper and rub a white candle over it til you have a very light covering of wax.
Keeping your tissue paper wrapped tightly and very flat around the candle, you should now wrap the waxed paper around the candle too. As this paper is bigger there will be an excess of paper, fold this over to make a handle for yourself.
Make sure both the tissue paper and waxed paper are completely flat and tight against the candle.
Now take a heat gun on a low setting and very gently heat the candle all over. There is a fine line between melting the tissue paper into place and causing the whole candle to disintegrate. so slow and gentle is the way.
Basically you are heating so that the tissue paper is trapped between the wax of the candle and the thin layer of wax from the waxed paper. As you heat you will see areas start to look a little 'wet' through the paper as soon as you see this move onto the next area.
when finished you will not be able to see the tissue paper at all, just the designs that you have stamped.
