New Stamps.Night Owl Niche.

Hi everyone, I am back again with another sample. This one turned out so cute, and focuses on Alfie the Owl.

I began with one of the white greyboard tags.  I stamped little Alfie from EM14, onto the tag and cut out around him using a craft knife. The owl shape was discarded.. all I wanted was the hole!

I sanded the raw edges of the owl shape smooth and then painted the whole thing with Snowflake. Next I brayered with Beach Hut, Inky Pool and Hyde Park.. and then a little more Beach Hut and Inky Pool... in that order. This gave me a nice rich, layered background.

I then used the large flower from EDY11, and stamped using Snowflake paint. I also stamped the starry background from EDY13, again in Snowflake.

I then used my cropadile to punch holes in just some of the background stars.

I painted a piece of smoothy with Pumpkin Soup, with just a little Inky Pool around where the owl will sit. This is the backing piece.

I stamped Alfie onto Chatsworth, and just lightly shaded a few areas using Fibralo pens. Stamping him onto patterned paper means he really doesn't need to be painted all over.

I glued the owl to the yellow backing piece, and then glued that to the back of the greyboard, so that the owl shows through the opening and the yellow shows through the starry holes.

I then stamped the flower heads again on smoothy card and painted the inside areas using Pumpkin Soup and Autumn Fire. At this point it didn't matter if I went over the spots. i left the border white. I cut them out and glued them over the stamped images already on the tag.

I used liquid pearls to add details, first I added the white rings.. then I needed a matching blue.. but i didn't have one. So I mixed some white liquid pearls with some Inky Pool and Voila,I have liquid pearl/fresco. i also added green liquid pearls to the stems.

Here you can see the owl sitting in the recess.

Here you can see how dimensional the liquid pearls is. i love that i was able to mix a custom colour.

I painted a strip of smoothy with Brown Shed and stamped the border from EDY11. I cut this up and made a perch for the owl. It needed a little something in the bottom corner. i found a blank metal tag and dirtied it up with a little paint and Treasure Gold, before stamping just the word 'Memories' from EDY13.

I finished off Alfie by adding a few details in liquid pearls to his eyes. then I mounted the whole tag to a piece of heavy smoothy, just slightly larger than the greyboard. this gives it a nice crisp white border.

I hope you enjoyed seeing Alfie get settled on his perch. I will be back soon with another sample. All these stamps are available from your favourite PaperArtsy retailer.
