River of Bling

Here is another page that I have done for the Wanderlust class. This time just a single layout.

As I said in the first post, I am doing these pages in an old journal, so this page started out with stuff already on it. I added a coat of gesso.

I took a black posca pen and drew random shapes. I wasn't inspired or influenced by anyhthing I had seen, and even the prompt didn't factor into it at this stage. My only , self imposed , restrictions were that I wanted to use some old discontinued paint.(PaperArtsy Fresco paint) These were colours that had come in sets and had never really been used.

The four that i chose did not go together so the best way to use them was to separate them.. hence the random lines.

I added the colours, and then added gel medium between each block.

While this was still wet I added some really old chunky UTEE in Pewter. Then I heat set it, UTEE really bubbles up, even more so when it is on glue, gel or paste. I love to watch it, it's a bit like molten lava.

Close up of the scrummy texture.

I then found a poem online that covered what i wanted to say really well, in relation to the prompt .

It isn't easy to get a good photograph because of all the UTEE bling, but you get the idea.

I am running a couple of weeks behind with the course, but I have been SUPER busy..

SECRET THINGS  are coming, very soon!!!

Sugar Skull Witch

I am having so much fun with this free stamp from the cover of Craft Stamper. I figured it would make a great little witch.

I drew out a body and a hat.. and I stamped the skull on card that was first painted with Blush and Snowflake Fresco paint.

I painted the neck, hand and thigh the same, and then mixed Elephant and Eggplant together to paint the dress and hat. Once dry I added shading with Pitt pens.

I coloured the skull with Pitt pens and attached it to the body and hat. I stamped the bird from HPHW03, cut that out and glued it to her hand.

I cut a piece of Watercolour paper down to size and painted it with a mix of Toffee and Buff, this gave me a nice neutral background. I used the circle from EEV02 and a mix of Snowflake and Haystack to create the moon, then I stamped and embossed the pumpkins from HPHW03 and the tree from EDY06. I used Black Glint WOW powder.

Next I splattered the background using twinkling H20's, i used Bolivian Blue and Bamboo. Then I added a little gloss glaze onto the pumpkins, while this was still wet I sprinkled Light Brown and Gamboge Brusho powders onto the pumpkins.

The bats are from HPHW04, these are stamped in black archival ink.

To add a little shadow to the ground I mixed Slate with some Bamboo Twinkling H20.

I painted some card with a mix of Elephant and Bolivian Blue H20, over this I stamped the skulls from HPHW03, these were cut out and glued along the bottom edge.

Then I glued on the witch.

Finally I added Graphite texture paste around the edges and added highlights here and there with a white posca pen.

Angel Blooms

I loved the process of the 'Basket of Dreams' canvas, (by Tracy Easson) so I decided to make another one. I think I will probably give this to one of my nieces. I have been promising them all a canvas, so this is the first one done..

Quick sketch onto canvas..

This time I painted the background first, then I stamped it with a text stamp from ESN15 and white paint.

I added the texture to her wings and covered them with Treasure Gold.  in several colours. I also roughly cut some flowers from patterned paper and glued those down as the background for the posy.

Next I worked on the face and hair, and then the dress.

Love how this face turned out considering it is so small and fiddly to get the shading right.

Using ELB15, I stamped little dots all over the background and added WOW embossing powder to them. I also added some lines of colour using a credit card and an old discontinued blue fresco from PaperArtsy.

I wanted to add dimensional flowers. Paper doesn't always hold its shape.. so I glued lots of bits of patterned paper to aluminium foil. Once dry I die cut them all, layered them up and added a brad. Then I was able to bend them into shape.

Using a Faber Castell Pitt pen I added some stalks, then poked holes in the canvas so that I could tie on some ric rac.

I die cut these letters, painted them and added Treasure Gold.

and here she is all finished..

Here you can see how amazing the shine is from the Treasure Gold on the wings and bodice.

Pink and Flowery

.. is so not me!

hi everyone, today is my Mum's birthday. I can't get to see her as I am still down in London, travelling home today. So I wanted to make her a really pretty card. I am not a girlie girl... you may have noticed lol and I don't do pink, or flowery... but this just kind of grew and grew and before I knew it, it was covered in gorgeous Jofy flowers.

I started by painting card  with Buff, Banana, Bougainvillea, Caribbean Sea and Guacamole. once dry I stamped the flowers, leaves, stars and hearts from Jofy 22.

These were all cut out.

I then took some linen card and folded it in half (this is a big card)I traced around some of the flowers and cut them out.

Now to fill in the rest of the card with the painted flowers.

Add a little doodling...

Using the tag stamp from the same set i made this little tag then added the sentiment from Jofy 14.

Because I had cut holes in the front of the card, you can of course see through to the inside.. Now I don't usually add insert papers in my cards, but this card needed it.

I took some regular printer paper and my brayer, then added Bougainvillea, Dolly Mix and Buff. I dried it and then added paint to the other side too.

I folded it in half, trimmed off a little, then stuck it inside the card with double sided tape. It looked a little boring inside, so I added leftover flowers and some random lines in Bougainvillea using an old credit card.

I think this just finished it off, ready for the message to be written.

Finally I added liquid pearls to the flower centres.

Here is the card finished with the painted insert paper showing through the cutouts on the front.

This uses my 2 least liked colours, pink and *shudder* yellow...( I really dislike yellow) but somehow it all works and while it 'isn't me' ..I do actually like it. Hope my Mum likes it too.

Calendar Challenge 2015 : March

Hi everyone, it's calendar link up time again. Fabulous entries last month from everyone, amazing and very clever pages. If you missed any pop back and follow the links from HERE.

So the rules for March were

1.. Keep a part of the original picture and incorporate that into your design
2, Technique -  use a candle or wax crayon as a resist
3. Add a title, using letters or words cut from a magazine/leaflet in a ransom style.
4. Blog your calendar page and link up from March 1st 2015

Here is my page at the start, it is the Girl with a Pearl Earring. To me is is dark and dull, but I do like her face.

First I used a dark brown mixed with a little black to blank out the title. Then I used a Lin Brown stencil and a wax crayon to create my resist.

I then painted rays of colour around her head, using a variety of blues and greens. once the paint was dry i rubbed it gently with a baby wipe and the paint that is sitting over the wax crayon just lifted away. To be honest I was a little disappointed, it was a much fainter pattern that I had oped for.. maybe I didn't use enough wax?

As I said I really liked her face, so decided to leave it for the most part, but to leave it entirely would have made it look out of place next to the paint. So taking ink colours that were very similar to the shades on the face, I stamped this tiny motif from my new stamp set, EDY11 all over her.

I then outlined her with a black pen and doodled over the lines.

Along the sides I stamped my new chevron stamp from EDY14. My new stamps are available NOW from your favourite PaperArtsy stockist.

and at the top I added the leaf background stamp from EDY12

At the bottom I stamped some of the leaves and stems from the above sets. All the stamps were coloured in using Fibralo pens.

I painted around the grid on the bottom page using blues and greens like the top page.

I then painted some tissue paper, and stamped the chevron over that. I cut them out carefully and glued them in random places on the bottom grid.

I also added the doodled stitching to match the doodling on her face.

Now to add text.. Rule 3 says to add words or letters cut from magazines in a ransom style.

I glued on the letters and words and then outlined them with black and white paint.

For the planner page, I stamped out these numbers and days of the week from HPXT06, this is a new stamp and oh so useful for this challenge. These stamps are available NOW  from your favourite PaperArtsy stockist.

The days of the week  and the numbers were all mounted onto black paper and then glued to the grid.

Finally I stamped the March text from this set.. HPXT07,  another fabulous new stamp.

and the bottom grid is finished.

The whole calendar page is now done.. Really pleased with this one, about half way through I did not like it at all, but then suddenly it all came together.

Hope you like it, don't forget to link up your March pages and go visit each other.

Before you do that take a note of the rules for next month..

Rules for April.

1.. Keep a part of the original picture and incorporate that into your design
