I have been working on this, on and off for ages. partly because I wanted to take my time with it and partly because last year I was stopped in my tracks by colds, coughs and chest infections for 11 weeks. But I was finally able to crack on and get it finished for a special young lady.
So first I needed to know what elements this young lady wanted on her picture, and this is the list I received.
girl with blonde curly hair...sparkly eyeshadow....rosebud lips, but not smiling...wings.....dog...stars...purple,pink,aubergine colours...word to hakuna matata
first the sketch on 140lbs water colour paper.
I then started blocking in shapes using neocolors.
and more background shapes..
next adding a bit more colour to add shading..
Then I added some white acrylic paint to knock back the colours..
I then added some script and heart stamping, I also stamped and cut out the bunting. i coloured that with markers and glued it on.
Next is another layer of white acrylic brayed on to knock it all back again.. this unifies all the background.
Now I cut some hearts from book pages, coloured them with markers and glued them on.. I added a little glue around each hearts and carefully added some microbeads.
once the beads were set in place i filled in the hearts with glossy accents..
and now to bring back the colour in the areas that I want to stand out.
and now I switched to coloured pencils to add the details and shading..I also used a little twinkling h2o's and metallic pencils and dots of stickles on the wings.
Finally I stamped the words, cut them out and glued them on. You can see the shimmery areas when the light catches them..
and then it snowed...so I took the opportunity to grab a photo outside..
I hope you liked seeing this process, it was a lot of fun to make and is now in its new home.
