Artful Readers Club

Welcome to the first meeting of ARC, the Artful Readers Club..

If you don't know what this is or have questions, then please read THIS POST FIRST...

Today is the day that you post on your blogs and show us all your chosen list of books.

Ideally post all 12, but if you can't manage that then at least post 6 of them, it doesn't mater what order you have them or what order you read them, just pick one from your list and get started.

There is a FB group HERE... where you can come and chat throughout the month, maybe exchange ideas about the art that you are planning.

Once you have blogged then please add your link here, so we can all come and visit and see what books you are reading.

IDEALLY PLEASE LINK TO THE SPECIFIC BLOG POST....rather than just to your blog, it just makes it easier to find the post.

Here are my book for 2013, they are also in the bookshelf on my sidebar.

I have chosen to read THIS BOOK... first, I only got it about 3 weeks ago and paid 20p for it in a charity shop. I have no idea what it is about or anything about the author, so I have no expectations.

Please now add your name and blog link to this linky widget.

On the 25th January ( the last Friday of the month) you should blog your book review and a photo of the art that you have made, then come to my blog and add your name and blog post to the linky so we can come and visit you.

  1. I only got a list of 6 for now and I'll let everyone the rest in June. It's just too tempting not to start reading. :)

  6. Happy new year Darcy! I would love to do this challenge but I have too little time to read for pleasure so I will just stop by and look at what is worth reading for a time when I don't have so many commitments.

  7. Okay, I'll jump in!
I'm just a bit worried about what to do when I come across a book I just hate? Can I still dump it and replace it for a better read? Mostly I will be able to struggle through it but how can you make Art from a story you don't like? I guess I just have to wait and see what the year brings us! Wishing you all a pleasurable and crafty 2013!!!

  12. I picked my books and am ready to read. The amazon blurb on your first choice sounds interesting. I look forward to the review to see how it turns out.

  13. Nice set of books - I enjoyed One Day (thought the film wasn't as good) and I'm partial to a bit of Patricia Cornwell though her books have been a bit hit and miss lately in my opinion, can't remember what I thought of this one though!

  15. Blimey your charity shops are cheap, it's unusual to find books under a couple quid round here. Am really looking forward to this challenge. Have finally settled on 12 and have posted.

    Happy reading everyone!

  20. Hi Darcy and everyone else. I know I am a day late in joining....although I may have just made it in some parts of the world! It is the second here in Australia and I have just got home after a week away. I look forward to reading though everyone else's posts to see what is on all your lists!

  21. I think I've done this right! Must have been the excellent instructions.
What a good idea of Lorig's. I never thought of checking out the books on Amazon, which is daft of me because I'm pretty well permanently logged on to their book site.
All the blogs I've seen so far have been interesting choices. Now that I'm linked I'll be able to find the others, so if I haven't been so far, I'll be seeing you.

  22. Ooh, must look up Life, Paint and Passion. Partial to a bit of paint.

  27. I just read about this challenge tonight. It's going to take me a few days to find even six books I want to read. I haven't read much (except blogs) since I got out of school. However, I want to join. One thing, though. I am NOT on FB and don't ever plan to be. So, I hope that doesn't disqualify me.

  28. I am late with this. I know this year I didn't want to set myself a challenge and ending up only doing half of it again but you know what if I am on my travels or busy with work I can still find some time to read books so here I am, I am in. Lottie will do all the art work for me :)

  29. Such a fabulous challenge... so happy to be here... just know it is going to be fun...

  31. Darcy,

I'm not sure you will see this comment, but I cannot see your linky links. I even tried in my translator, which allows me to see things I can't on blogger, including your sidebar bookshelf. Is there any way you can PLEASE add my blog entry to the links? I would really appreciate it, if you could. I know it's asking a lot, but usually using my translator allows me to see links. This time it didn't.

    Thank you in advance.

  32. i finally posted my list of books. sorry for being so late but i was out of town when i first heard about this fun challenge.

  33. I hope I'm only fashionably late to the party. My books are piled high next to my favorite chair and the studio work table has been cleared, so let the party begin. I can't wait to check out everybody's reading list.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Sorry Darcy but if possible can you remove the link I made to the party yesterday? Enthusiasm overtook practicality for a moment and having slept on it I don't think I'm up to joining and completing the challenge at this time. I've removed the post I had made.

I'll still look forward to seeing what the other players come up with and sorry for any inconvenience.

  35. Hi, Hope I can still join in. I have my books already selected as part of my "I WILL get some reading done in '13" goal and have even gotten a couple read this month.

BTW, I messed up my link (#42). :-( Could you please take it down and I will put up the correct one in its place.
