Launch Week Has Arrived!!!

EEEK!!! it is so exciting, and has been so hard to keep secrets, but at last Launch Week is here.... or rather it is over there... on the PaperArtsy blog.

Tonight is the first night of collections aunches, and we will have new products to show you every night for a whole week.

We kick off the week with 16 brand new paint colours, all of them yummytastic!

First up the new blues..

we also have new purples.

and if that wasn't enough, we also have 2 new sets of limited edition colours from Lin Brown and Jo Firth Young.

If you pop over to the PaperArtsy blog you will see all the new paint families, and some fantastic samples that have been made by our guests this evening.

Here is a video from PaperArtsy explaining the paint.

I have made a quick journal page with the blues, purples and 2 of Lin's colours.

I started by adding torn book text, paper doily and music paper to my page.

Then I brayered on in this order.. Smurf, Wisteria, Glass Blue then Lavendar. I knocked it all back with a little Blue Oyster, and then stamped the scratchy rectangle stamp from EEV02. I dipped the stamp very lightly into blueberry and stamped in both directions.

I then painted some circles with Snowflake, and once dry I painted them again using Banana and Tangerine Twist. These are both translucent colours and so look truer if used over white.

Then using Blueberry I stencilled just over the circles..

Then using Black Archival ink I stamped the bold spiral from EEV01

This is deli paper, on one half is Glass Blue topped with Smurf and Wisteria. The other half is Purple Rain topped with Blueberry and Blue Oyster.

I tore the deli paper into strips and glued them to the page.

Then I mixed Grunge paste with paint and added some textured petals using stencils.

Once dry I added doodling around the Grunge paste.

Next I added a border all around the page using Blueberry, and torn card as a template.

I painted 5 small tags with China, blended on  a little Glass Blue and mounted them onto white card. I then printed out a quote, cut it up and glued it to the tags.

these were then stapled to the page.

and so the page is done.

 I just love that background

Do go to the PaperArtsy blog for more great samples and ideas and most importantly lots of information about the new paints.

All the new products are availabe for sale NOW from your favourite PaperArtsy supplier.

A Birthday Card Mash Up

Being a part of the awesome design team that is PaperArtsy, means that I not only get to play with my stamps but I get to play with all our other designers stamps too. One of my favourite designers is Ellen Vargo.

Last year she release these fabulous flower petal stamps, and one of her launch samples caught my eye, I really wanted to scraplift the layout as it was so effective..  but not had time until now.

I need a birthday card quickly the other night, and just knew that this would be the ideal design.

I started with a number 10 tag, onto this I brayered Vanilla, Cheesecake, Guacamole, Tinned Peas and a secret new colour.  over this i stamped Ellens scratchy rectangle stamp with archival ink. I stamped the background very lightly, hardly any ink at all. I then stamped over this with my flying birds stamp.

Finally I stamped the flower stem from my EDY06 set. This is a really useful stamp, it can be a flower stem, a border, funky hair.. a millipede?

Over this I added text from a brand new stamp...oooooooh! Can't wait for you to see all the new products.

I painted some smoothy card with more of the same colours of paint, but keeping them lighter, and then stamped the flower petals from EEV09

I edged the tag with brown ink and then glued it to a white card blank. The petals are bigger than the card, so I needed to make a customized envelope. i used an old piece of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper, that I knocked back with a little paint. Then I made a little name label using the same colours as on the tag.

Thanks Ellen, for the inspiration, I love mashing up our designs.

An unfinished page...or is it?

Indeed, I cannot decide. I truly love this page just as it is. but as I am so used to adding lots of layers, I keep wanting to add more to this page.... but nothing i try works, I think the page is telling me that it is done.

I had some leftover stencilling on this page, just leftover nougat paint on the stencil. I laid it on the page and wiped off the paint, this effectlively gives a faint resist background.

I spritzed the page with water, then added stripes of Spanish Mulberry and Guacamole. As son as the paint is on, wipe it back off. this allows the Nougat stencilling to show through. Wouldn't this make beautiful wallpaper?

I then drew on some intersecting lines.

and painted the background/negative shapes with black gesso..

I then used black archival ink and the sketchy stamps from Ellen Vargo 02, this is fast becoming my fave stamp set at the moment. I used a diffferent stamp on each path, just repeating them. I then defined the black shapes with a white posca pen.

and so it's finished.... or is it?

What do you think?
