A while ago I went to a workshop for the day, we made these panels which could be turned into cushions. during the day we constructed the main pieces, but there was lots of twiddly folding back and hand stitching to do once home.

anyhoo, I got mine done and was talking to my friend Ms.Effie and she said she didn't want her panel as she probably wouldn't do anything with it. So she passed it along to me so that i would have a pair.

This is how it looked when she gave it to me.

and here it is with all the flaps and edges folded back, twisted, curved etc and all hand stitched in place.

and here are both panels, just need to make them into cushions now.

Well it's been 2 weeks since my last post, sorry for the lack of wednesday workdesk stuff, I have been doing odd bits but only really half heartedly, and with no inclination to update to the world hahaha how EMO is that lol

I am still in pain with my back, and after having had cancer in the past my surgeon felt I really should have a bone scan. That in itself was traumatic as my veins are so poor, it took them 8 attempts on 2 different days to get a needle into me so the radioactive dye could be injected. In the end they called an anaesthetist to do it, and it still took him 2 attempts. The scan itself was quick and easy, but the wait for results has been very stressful. Today is a good day, my nurse called and the scan shows no cancer, just inflammation due to damage to the lower back which is more than likely pressing on the sciatic nerve....So now I have to manage the pain and wait it out.

Seriously relieved is an understatement.

So onto pretty stuff, let's see, I can't even remember what i have made lately. I got together with some friends and we hired a room in a community centre for the day, most of us made bags. This is mine, I have sent it off to my sister who lives in Australia, I am spectacularly bad at remembering birthdays, so this is a non-specific occasion gift lol

Next I agreed to take part in a tag swap organised by my lovely friend Kirsty It was an ages from discussing what had to go on them..to actually making them, and I totally forgot what was needed lol I didn't do too bad though, i only missed off the inspirational quote hahaha I made 5, all the same, sent 4 and now await 4 from other people to arrive in the post.

My coffee table finally arrived, so my magazine page bowl now has a home and is filled with mini books.

I went to a local art exhibition of work by Mackenzie Thorpe, he is one of my all time faves. It was lovely to meet him and chat. I don't look too happy, but i was really, just my back was so sore.

next I went to a quilting workshop, being taught by reknowned quilting artist Jennie Rayment. I have met her before but this was the first workshop I had done. She is a fab teacher and very funy, the day was very fast paced but we all got loads done. i was very pleased with what i achieved on the day, even though I was in pain and strapped up like a mummy to keep my back from falling apart lol After I had slept for a couple of days I finished off the panel, and now it is ready to be made into a cushion.

This is how far I got on the day of the workshop...

and this is a couple of days later, after I had rolled back and hand stitched all the twiddly bits. Photos are both taken in exactly the same position so you can see how each square changes.

I really want to make 2 coloured ones now for my new sofas.

Next a couple of birthday cards, the first for my niece...

this next one is for my friend Jean, she likes all things goth and it was her birthday on Saturday just gone. We all went to Whitby for the day as it was Goth weekend over there. The card is all hand drawn.

Finally this is me all dressed up for Goth day.

Lastly at our monthly art group we decorated some mini canvasses, but I don't know what I have done with the photos, will find them for next time. Oh and I don't have photo of my desk, because I can't actually see it lol it is totally piled up with stuff. My previously mentioned friend Kirsty has a new cd which she is promoting on tv on Saturday, and she asked me to make a sample card for her to take with her, so I did that yesterday and left my craft room in a shambolic state...bad back etc can't tidy up etc ....lol

Hope you are all well.

At the art group that I go to, run by Effie ,we do a monthly swap. This year we are doing tags, each month we make 2 identical tags, one to keep and one to swap. We have also made an art journal to stick them in.

This is my January tag, I liked it till I did my Feb one, which I like more, so I may do another January one in the same style as Feb lol

February tag...

Time page from my 8x8 art journal...made using same pens and paints as the first two. Any suggestions for themes of future pages most welcome.

Birthday card for a little friend of mine who turned 10 last week, double digits at last, how very grown up.

I also made her a bag,it's a Melly & Me pattern, using 4 fat quarters.

Bag fastens with 2 magnetic bag clasps.

...and this is the sock monster I made for her. A while ago she gave me 2 pairs of teeny socks that she had grown out of but couldn't bear to throw away, so now she can keep them forever lol
"Hello my name is Victoria Murray, originally from Australia where I was a cleaner in the Sydney Opera House, I now live in the UK. I came here to seek my fame and fortune, and to one day see my name in lights in the West End. My favourite musical is Hairspray, I love sherbet lemons but I am a little afraid of bananas."
