She is a designer and photographer, and regularly designs for various craft companies. She also has a range of craft cds, full of papers, images and embellishments for you to print out at home and use in your card making, scrapping ,altered art or whatever floats your boat. On Saturday 1st May,Kirsty was due to appear on Create and Craft TV to promote her third cd. Aswell as being a great designer, Kirsty is a lovely person and has a small army of family and friends who make samples for her to showcase her designs.
So I was thrilled when she asked me to make up a sample card using an image of this little Goth girl. I had a busy few days ahead, and so I was only able to make one card, but I can assure you the amount of stuff on the cd would have you making cards for months and months.
This is the card I made, along with the box/envelope that it required, as the card is not flat. I gave the card 'sides' that are 1cm deep, the box sides are about 1.3cm deep. This accomodates the 3D elements and stops them getting squished. Though to post I would suggest wrapping the box in bubble wrap before packaging just to make sure it gets there in one piece.
The box and card are approx 6inches square, and fasten with a little velcro dot.
Here you can see the front of the box and the card. Both are made from white linen cardstock, the box takes 1 and a half A4 sheets, the card takes only 1. The box is covered in Raspberry Ocean papers from the Butterfly World file. The large white flower and smaller acetate flower are from the Angelica Rockchick file as is the Harlequin strip and the sentiment.
I didn't do this on the sample, but it would be a great idea to punch a hole either side of the box near the top, thread some ribbon thru and voila you have a handle for the box. Once the card has been taken out you could hang the box up and use it to store cds, maybe cds of your favourite photos.
The front of the card is covered first with black diamond paper from Angelica Rockchick, layered with strips of pink diamond paper. Then I added a piece of white linen card, layered that with skull paper and finally added Angelica herself. I printed onto heavyweight smooth paper, and everything printed out beautifully.
Next I printed and cut out Twitch from The Warren files, she has a flower in her hair which I 'sticklesed' I then added a little flower to her tummy. I also added some faux stitching around the bunny to make her look more of a 'toy' for Angelica, and echoed that with faux stitching around the skull paper. Using a fine black pen.
Inside, I covered the main part with more of the spotty paper from Raspberry Ocean, then made a ribbon strip with the harlequin paper, difficult to see in the photo, but there is also a 'bow' on the strip, it stand fairly proud, and to avoid the bow being 'white' on the inside I used the harlequin paper double. The lollipop flower, is 2 strips of diamond paper for the stalk and 3 circles punched out and then scrunched up for the flower head. I 'swooshed' some black ink over the edges and popped a brad thru all 3 layers. I then chose my sentiment, again from the Angelica file, backed it onto cardstock, cut it out and stuck that on.
Finally I made some skull butterflies, adding 3 to the inside and 1 to the outside. The butterfly parts are all from the Angelica sentiments sheet. I printed the sheet first onto paper and then again onto acetate. I cut out the skull heads, then cut a body from a striped area on the sheet. From the acetate sheet I cut out the flowers, and used the petals as wings. I glued all the bits together and then covered each butterfly in glossy accents to add depth and shine.
