Inbox/Letter rack

hi there, do you remember the patchwork paper I made a while ago? You can see how I did it HERE...

I love the stamp storage that I made with the paper, and decided to make more storage. This time much smaller. Whenever I make cards, or have bits that need mailing out, I find I am always moving them around my desk and sometimes they get lost under piles of other projects. So I needed an inbox/outbox kind of thing, that I could keep on the worktop and pop things in it that need mailing out.

So I  started by making more patchwork paper.. I made lots... enough to decorate 2 inbox storage units and plenty of smaller pieces to use on cards.

Here they are at the halfway point.

I then looked around for a suitable box and found this old washing powder box.

I cut down the sides to make this..

and then added a divider in the middle..

I then finished all my patchwork pieces just as I did in this post..

I painted the inside of the box and added the patchwork panels..

I totally love this little box, so much that I made one for a friend. She doesn't know it yet but will receive it soon. lol

it is small and compact, only about 8 inches by 6 inches, does not take up much space at all. It is now filled with bits and pieces that need mailing out and it sat right near my art room door. As I leave the room i check it to see what needs mailing.

Make yourself a letter rack, maybe for your art room for birthday cards, or just for your household bills... after all it's bad enough having to pay them, may aswell make the rack bright and cheerful..

  9. this is so cool, and reminds me that Christmas 2007 I made a whole bunch of pressies with recycled cardboard boxes - time to save the cereal boxes again. Thanks for the inspiration.
